• Provide high-quality tax compliance and advisory services for individuals, trusts, estates, gifts, foundations, and business entities
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies aligned with client financial, estate, and investment objectives
• Review individual, fiduciary, estate, gift, partnership, S corporation, foundation, and business tax returns
• Manage Federal and State tax notices, audits, and correspondence with taxing authorities
• Analyze estate planning documents and advise on tax implications and planning opportunities
• Research Federal, State, and International tax laws; prepare technical tax memorandums and tax-saving strategies
• Stay current on evolving tax legislation, tax reform, and regulatory changes affecting clients
• Apply oil & gas industry tax expertise, including depletion, depreciation, IDC deductions, dry hole costs, and AMT adjustments
• Serve as primary client contact for tax matters, building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Coordinate with wealth advisors, financial planners, attorneys, and other client stakeholders
• Support business development efforts through networking, public speaking, marketing initiatives, and thought leadership articles
• Train, mentor, and oversee staff, including workload management and technical development
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; JD or MS in Tax preferred
• Active CPA, EA, or State Bar license required
• 6+ years of progressive public accounting experience
• Extensive experience with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individual, trust, gift, and estate tax planning/compliance
• Strong technical research, memo writing, communication, and client service skills
• Experience with CCH Axcess Tax, Bloomberg Income Tax Planner, and Microsoft Office preferred
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work additional hours to meet client deadlines
